Dr. Chris Bishop is an internationally recognized expert in postharvest technology, cold chain management, and perishable logistics, with over 40 years of academic and consultancy experience in more than forty countries. He has worked extensively on the transport of perishable and dried commodities by road, sea, and air, focusing on temperature management, stowage, damage prevention, hygiene, and quality control.

He has worked on the design, modification and justification of logistics choice at air freight handling facilities in eight African countries, and on packhouse design, management and regulatory factors such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) in ten African countries. In a recent legal case involving international airfreight of fresh produce, the lawyers and parties on both sides would not accept any other expert, and his report was the deciding factor in the adjudication.

Mr. Khan brings over three decades of senior advisory and management experience in development-sector programs, with recognized expertise in post-harvest and food-system management. He has led major initiatives on scaling grain storage technologies and transferring them effectively to end users. As part of the former Food and Feed Grains Institute (FFGI) at Kansas State University (KSU), USA, he contributed to the successful implementation of storage technology development and transfer projects in Pakistan, earning donor and community recognition for efficient and transparent delivery.

PHC developed and launched the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition’s (GAIN’s) E-Learning Management System (ELMS), strengthening capacities in food safety, nutritional quality, and food-fortification regulations for the biofortified wheat CBC Pakistan program by HarvestPlus. He has optimized linkages with SMEs across the agro-food chain in adopting improved postharvest best practices and food transformational actions.

Mr. Khan contributed a chapter on Pak-Wheat for Crop Post-Harvest Science and Technology (Book) Volume 2 – Durables, NRI UK Greenwich, 2004, Blackwell Publication UK, and authored the Training Manual on Grain Storage, Handling and Protection, FFGI, KSU, USA.
